Grow Your Business

March 27, 2012

I just left the office of a client who has booked a 35% increase in sales the first calendar quarter of 2012. Same economy as the rest of us. They increased prices in Jan. 2012 ranging from 5% to 10% so that accounts for some increase, but certainly not 35%. And in the past 3 years Jan-Mar have been THE worst months of the year. Slow to dead. How’d he do it? Glad you asked: focused on already good customer service and product quality; delivered ahead of promised times; created new products; offers new lines of products; makes more sales calls; answers all phone calls and doesn’t let them go to voice mail; training his team, has a full marketing calendar for 2012 for special events; ramped up networking; leaves an hour earlier every day than he has in the past. Find anything in there that maybe you can do too? Sure you did, all it takes is doing it.      www.breakthroughsforsuccess.com

Take Action

March 21, 2012

Here’s the deal. We read and hear all the self-help, motivational talk and most of it is pretty good. It’s logical, easy to implement, can produce results. Books upon books have been written that demonstrate “how to” be successful. They are filled with ample research. The authors are very credible. Examples are there for us to follow. Seminars exist for us to attend. So, why don’t we lose weight, get rich, find success, etc.? My experience shows it is a lack of action. We simply don’t move. Well, I don’t know what to tell you if you won’t get up and go. Are you satisfied with status quo, or are you a person of Status Go? Get going. Do something. Activity, even if you have to adjust, is the key. To your continued success. www.breakthroughsforsuccess.com.

The Joys of Coaching

March 15, 2012

Not a cookbook. One of the rewards of coaching is watching clients grow, stretch out of their comfort zone. Their experience with topics we work on  and how they use the experience to grow is good enough reason to get up in the morning. This week has been especially fun and gratifying for the Coach.

Breakthroughs for Success

March 13, 2012

How do I know if I need a “breakthrough” and why does this book work? You’ll know. Each of us hits a barrier in life. Work, relationships, spiritual, school, and on and on. The most successful people (by any definition) hit barriers and can’t seem to move forward. Life happens. To all of us. So get ready. The best news is that you (I) can get yourself through this. Why does the book for a wide variety of people? “because everyone seeks their level of success and happiness whether consciously or subconsciously. It is a process not driven by title or level of previous success. Just desire.

Growth, Change,

March 12, 2012

This is the best I’ve seen it offered. Nothing too difficult and nothing we can’t do to help ourselves. This is from a newsletter I receive. If you haven’t noticed, I use a lot of my newsletters to send to you. Because, ! it’s good stuff!

Seeds of Greatness Being Self-Reliant by Denis Waitley:

To be self-reliant adults, we need to set some guidelines:

Be different, if it means higher personal and professional standards.

Be different, if it means being more gracious and considerate to others.

Be different, if it means being cleaner, neater and better groomed than the group.

Be different, if it means putting more time and effort into all you do.

And be different, if it means taking the calculated risk.

The greatest risk in life is to wait for and depend upon others for your own security. The greatest security is to plan and act, and take the risk that will ultimately ensure your personal freedom and independence.

Success Story

March 12, 2012

How to generate three times more income than last year:

(this is one of my coaching clients)

There is a longer version of this success story. So, it has been shortened. The client who achieved this has worked hard for many years. Here’s what happened. We worked together for about 2 years until mid-2011. At the end of January 2012 the client handed me their 1099 for the tax year of 2011. It was approximately 3 times more than they had earned in the previous year. It is well into 6 figures and while it isn’t a half million it is looking directly at it. It’s about 10 minutes away.

When I saw the 1099 I thought the business had been sold! So naturally I asked what had made the difference. Here’s the summary. They started holding the sales and service staff accountable to key performance indicators we’d established. In other words, make the sales calls, generate the business, do the work! Accountability is critical to everyone’s  success. When you are at work, work. When you are at home, be at home with  your family. Don’t try to mix them.

And they stopped being a friend at work. Don’t confuse this with not being congenial and understanding. As an employee don’t expect your boss to be your best buddy. As the boss, treat your employees with respect and dignity, but demand performance. Pretty simple.

Next, the client works about 2 hours more each day. Education is a major part of their daily routine with reading and listening to CDs. So they are congruent with their disciplines and expect nothing less from others. That’s ok to do!

Now, would you like to know how many vacations the client took in 2011? Yes, you would…three. That’s 3! Holy smoke, they took time off and enjoyed themselves and still achieved an increase of 3X the 2010 income?!

Want to learn how to d  o this? Give me a call.
