Too much effort can actually work against you

New Year’s resolutions, personal and business goals, starting over…whatever the motivation just don’t go after more than you can actually manage. It is the most common mistake. Brought on by enthusiasm, hope. That’s good, but we should remember that change is achieved when efforts are channelled.

For new habits to be successfully adopted we have to make them established and stable. It requires work. Enthusiasm will keep you going for a week or two. Then life happens. Or there is too much inner and outer resistance because we try to do it all at once. And you give up. Consistently applied work on the change will make it become a successful habit.
